No Gods, No Kings, Just Man!!!!

Well, i got my copy of BIOSHOCK today!!!! I had preordered it so of course I was going to have to wait past the day of release to get mine. After reading forums and message boards i felt so alone.

First, let me start by saying this if you have a copy and havent done this DO IT!!!

Start the game but do not push the start button. After a minute or so you will be treated to a fantastic cut scene that offers a little insight into the game.

Like a little kid on Christmas Day I heard the UPS man on the porch and imagined it was Santa comin down the chimney. Grabbed the box, said see ya, and tore it open like a rabid dog and in all its glory was BIOSHOCK!!!!

So, i proceded to finish my PB&J sandwich while i sped through the manual trying to fill my head with as much info as i possibly could before i dove into the realms of Rapture.

Now, here it is 5:20pm, i have played for approximately 3 1/2 hours and i must say if you are a skeptic or doubt in any way this game is as good as ALL the media says it is you are wrong. BIOSHOCK is all of that, a bag of chips, a milkshake, and anything else you want to add here King sized!!!!

In my 3 1/2 hours I have killed one Big Daddy and 1 Little Sister. I also saved 1 Little Sister as well. I am sure some are wondering about the challenge a Big Daddy presents when you finally meet one. If you follow what the game tells you about certain weapons and ammunition most of you should be able to apply the right combination of both and still find it challenging without it being overbearing.

I chose to use the shotgun with bullets that shock at first (i only had six shells). Those six shells did enough damage to where i could finish him off with regular shoutgun ammo in about a minute or so. But, within the time frame of the fight i used 5 or 6 health packs and that was due to the large amount of damage the Big Daddy inflicts with just one (yes one) blow.

Enough about the Big Daddy, i also have come across 1 combat tonic (enhances the power behind my wrench swing), 1 engineering tonic (slows down the time you are given to hack into machines), and 1 physical tonic (everytime i am hit a static charge emits from my body doing damage to everything in a certain radius.

I have also found the Telekenisis, fire, and electricity plasmids. Telekenisis is a blast. Think of the gravity gun from Half life 2 without having a gun.

Favorite part so far: Hacking into a turret that fires rockets and watching it take out security bots one by one.

Most Gut Wrenching (Emotional) Part: Having to decide what to do with my first little sister. Yes, this was a decision that i had to think about. The developers did very well setting up these scenes. They really tug at your sense of what is right or wrong. After i saved the first one, it was much easier to kill the second one though.

Least favorite Part so far: The only complaint i can think of is really trivial. In some parts when you are just totally kne deep in water i would have liked to feel some feedback in the controller to make it seem like i was pushing through water.

 

By the way the title comes from a banner in the game. ( I think I have it Right).

Gulty as charged!!!! I feel so stupid

Last time i wrote i was having a hissy fit about Overlord and the fact that i was going to have to resort to a walkthrough. Well, I am sure you guessed it ......I did. What really ticks me off about this whole scenario is i first rented this game about a month ago and played only for a very short time. This time when i rented it i picked up where i left off and had forgotten most of what i was supposed to be doing (ADD i guess).

So after roaming the friggin forest for what seemed like 2 hours or more trying to find blue minions i caved and found a walkthrough. What usually follows after every time i cave in also happened again. You see, it goes like this:

a.) I get frustrated

b.) Wrestle with my conscience over a walkthrough

c.) Finally cave in and find a walkthrough

d.) Find out that the objective i was stuck on was so friggin simple that I then walk around for days contemplating how i ever grauated from college in the first place.

Yea, i may take this crap too seriously at times. But, so what it is my only hobby. So for any of you that were taking bets, playing an office pool, or anything else that counted on my lack of self esteem congrats you win and i feel so stupid!!!!

Told Ya So!!!

Friggin Overlord is beginning to really tick me off. I have been wandering around forever looking for any cluse as to where any of my current objectives are. I hate when that happens in a game. I begin to feel totally incompetent.

The only choices i have now are

a.)  Continue wandering around hoping my luck will change for the better and i eventually run into 1 of my current 7 objectives.

b.) log on and search for a walkthrough which makes me feel even more hopeless and incompetent. I tend to look at problems such as these as challenges that the developers have set before me as if they were saying i am smarter than you you will never figure this one out.

Yeah I know, I'm a headcase.

Up until now i was having a decent time with the game.

It plays fairly well.

Graphics are above average.

It provides a much needed variation from what is already available out there.

So, at least for now i have shut my 360 down with the hopes that i come across some revelation in my sleep. Friggin Game!!!!

Back to the title of this entry. Told Ya So is referring to the fact that everything i talk about isnt about bioshock. Just like i promised.

One last gripe then i'm gone

How is it a game such as Bioshock can stay under every magazine and website's radar for the last year but as soon as the first hands on gets released everyone is jumping on that bandwagon? Of course this isnt the only game the media is making love to. It happens for every Halo and GTA release also. Personally it gets under my skin and makes me reconsider my thoughts on the game kinda like not wanting to be like everyone else. Coincidently, I dont like the Halo series and have never touched the GTA series as well.

Yes I know!!!!

Yes i know Bioshock and Two Worlds aren't out yet but i expect to receive them this week so i decided to add them to my now playing list today rather than later.

As you can see I am pretty stoked about BIOSHOCK. I have been following this game for over a year now anticipating the very day that's soon to come.

I will do my best not to make this blog strictly about BIOSHOCK but do expect a fair amount of info on it as I progress through the game multiple times.

Let me say how awesome it is to have come across 2old2play. Amongst most of my friends i am the only avid gamer, and well, sometimes the conversations can get pretty dull. Who wants to talk about politics and wall street anyway.

I hope that through 2old2play i will have the opportunity to meet like minded individuals and make a few friends along the way.

Hoped you enjoy this, hit me up sometime, if I don't add friends to this thing soon they might replace timmy with my name.
