Videogames + Booty =

Before I get into the videogames + booty part of this blog, I'd like to thank everyone for the warm welcome back.
I couldn't ask for a better group of people to throw plasma grenades at. =)

And an update on my blog two postings back, I lost exactly 15lbs while I was out at sea. I came back home & everyone can't get over how skinny my face is.. 15lbs was a good amount for me. Those long hours downloading Bubba's Halo videos really packed some extra fluff on me & I'm glad to see it gone.

Kay, now onto the even better stuff..
As you know, I'm getting married in late February & wasn't sure if I could make the Phoenix LAN hosted by USCM1.
While talking with him on the phone he brought up one very good point.... He said, "Dude, the LAN could be your Bachelor Party!"

Now you may be thinking a videogame get-together wouldn't host a bevvy of typical Bachelor Party antics but let me assure you, I think it could happen.
Last year in Phoenix, my roomie & I arrived around midnight on Thursday to, "Jay! Meet us at Kristies! It's a bar right down the road from the hotel."

We pull up to this place & it's a huge strip club.. I walk in & the first thing I see is USCM being sent back to his hotel in a cab from partying to much. I walk up to The Red Scare and PMS EM & am instantly greeted with two shots & a free lap dance.

Perfection. =)

So as you can see, a bachelor party in Phoenix this year just might be the right answer..

I'm back home in the good ol' US of A.

A few months back I left on a short deployment to the Arabian Gulf in support of the ground troops in Afghanistan & I returned home last night to loving friends & family.
My tour was fairly short only because I'm heading back in May for a followup 5 month deployment.

A little brief:
I'm active duty Navy, 10 years, stationed on the newest aircraft carrier in the United States Navy, the USS Ronald Reagan.
This last deployment we were sent to take the place of another aircraft carrier who had an overwhelming interior fire that destroyed nearly half of the ships internal wiring. She was forced to return home & we were sent to finish her job.

Our main mission was to sit off the southern coast of Pakistan & provide air support for our brothers & sisters in arms on the ground in Afghanistan.
Whether pinned down by sniper fire or providing the location of points of interest, our aircraft was available night or day to drop missiles and/or bombs where needed.
Each plane would launch with weapons strapped to her wings & when she returned, the wings were bare.

While overseas, a terrible tsunami devastated the Philippines & we were sent in to provide food, water & medical supplies for the struggling victims. The outreach was remarkable & to see the the terror in those children's eyes replaced with a small sense of peace & comfort was a feeling one simply can't express in words.

Before I left for this tour, I proposed to my long time girlfriend of 6 years & in this coming February, we will be wed in Jamaica. We went there on a vacation after only a short time being together & was the place where we both really connected & learned an incredible amount about each other. Now, many years down the road, we're inviting our close friends & family to join us in the same place our love began, to share the beginning of our lives as Mr. & Mrs. Jay CoqRocket. =)

These past few months were a strain on my emotions.. Time spent away from loved ones, doing a job that sometimes has you question your beliefs & reason for doing the job you're asked to do.. Missing a few birthdays & weddings.. Missing a LOT of good football & completely missing out on videogames with my MANY friends here on 2o2p..

But the time for celebration is here & for the next 5 months, I plan on enjoying every second I have.
When I walked into the house last night, one the first things I received, after too many kisses for me to count from my fiance, was a copy of Gears of War 2 from my roommate.

I can't wait to chainsaw your ass into little bite-size pieces. =)

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead..

Good morning 2o2p. It's Monday, are you ready?

Today is the first day in my reattempt to tackle a new diet.
About a year ago I had the will to not only start the South Beach Diet, but also live by it for many months.
The end result was a healthy weight loss of about 15 lbs & a definite better feeling of health.
Unfortunately, through some life changes, I decided to drop the diet.

This morning I take another step towards living a healthier lifestyle.
The weekend was good, with the birthday & holiday both giving me excuses to over-eat & drink, but now it's time to get a stranglehold on the lovehandles.

Last night I watched a movie called "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead", with Phillip Seymor Hoffman, Ethan Hawk & Marissa Tomie.
The flick was about two brothers, both neck deep in financial misery, who decide to make a quick buck by robbing their own family's jewelry store.
They figure since the merchandise is insured & neither of the parents will be working there, both of them know the safe combos & they aren't any security guards, what could possibly go wrong.
No harm, no foul right?

The heist goes terribly wrong & the movie shows the epic decline of two men's will to not get caught or go to jail, at their own families expense.

In the end, I personally thought the story was good but the acting was incredible.
I wasn't a big fan of the scene transitions...a lot like 'Vantage Point', but I can't say enough about the amazing performances by Hoffman & Hawk.

Worth a rental? Yes.

and I like where they got the name of the movie..
An old quote: "May you be in heaven 30 minutes before the Devil knows you're dead."

Happy Independence Day

"Forty-six U.S. and allied personnel lost their lives in Afghanistan last month, the highest monthly toll since the war started. The 28 American troop deaths also marked the highest U.S. monthly death toll in Afghanistan in the conflict."

With times like they are, let us all give thanks to the brave men & women who go in harms way to allow us the freedoms we will celebrate today.

When you're out today, grilling burgers & dogs, doing cannonballs in the deep end of the pool, throwing back beers while the ladies talk over margaritas, watching the kids run down the slip 'n slide, feel free to send a prayer to those who've fallen & the ones still fighting.

Gameless Prison

I have been out gaming for about 3 weeks now due to an injury to my left thumb that until this morning, the f**king idiot doctor has told me was a severe sprain.

I go back to the docs on Monday & ask to get referral to an Orthopedic Doc.. He takes more x-rays & this morning I get a call to come to the hospital as soon as I can get there. From that point, the new Doc tells me I have a torn tendon between my thumb & palm & I'll need to be in a cast for 4 weeks.

So there it is.
A gameless prison of my own doing.. 4 weeks.

Chief Petty Officer

This morning will be my first time taking the E-7 exam (Military Advancement Exam) & I can't wait.
It's a little past 5am here & I'm eating some cereal, relaxing & trying to not stress. =)

In related news, I received my newest set of orders yesterday, (Where the Navy is sending me next), and I'll be staying here in beautiful southern California & stationed aboard the new aircraft carrier, CVN-76, the USS Ronald Reagan. I'll be heading there in August & from there, the deployments will all be to Japan, Hawaii, Australia, Thailand, Phillipines, etc..
Many pictures are in your future. =)

A Dingo Ate My Baby!

Sitting here at work in the wee hours of the morning, I'm doing what every other red-blooded American does to kill time between eating & masturbating...SURFING the INTERNET. (and doing a little studying) woot.
Well, I'm not quite sure of the thought process that led me to look up the origin of the phrase "A dingo ate my baby!" but here I am, filled with even more useless knowledge, passing it onto you.

To keep it short, the phrase has been used comedically in Seinfeld, The Simpsons & countless other one-liner situations but sadly enough, it was actually derived from a true story in Australia! A couple had been camping with their children, the mom left the tent unaccompanied, she comes back to see dingo running off with baby in mouth, never to be recovered.

Hmmm... How such a tragedy ever made the funny pagers, I'll never know.
But I can't help but laugh when I even just hear the word "Dingo", let alone being followed by "ate my baby".

In other AMAZING news for me, (all you military folks can appreciate), I found out yesterday afternoon that I'm eligible to take the E-7 rating exam in January!   Double-woot! hell, Triple-woot with naked booby jumping jacks!

I can't wait..   I only put on E-6 a year ago but since I've received 3 years of consecutive 'Early Promotion' evaluations, I'm being given the chance to move even further up the ladder.   Exciting stuff...
