After playing this almost nonstop for 6 hours I would have to say awesome. You start as a single cell organism you choose either carnivore or herbivore and you eat meteor pieces to gain DNA points and to progress eating lesser creatures unlocks more body parts. Eventually you get to go on land. You can make alliances with species or make them become extinct. Then you become tribal and have buildings etc. I made it to the civilized stage before I had to leave for work. You design every thing vehicles boats buildings everything and your actions effect how your things will act and powers mine are aggressive.

Those who do like computer games should consider buying this I warn you it it is very addictive.

Your kidding me right

SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.

Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.

One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.

"Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.

"We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho, ho, ho" has any other connotation and nor should they," she told the Telegraph.

"Leave Santa alone."

A local spokesman for the US-based Westaff recruitment firm said it was "misleading" to say the company had banned Santa's traditional greeting and it was being left up to the discretion of the individual Santa himself.

This is so crazy. What is next banning everything come on. What do you think of this?

Confessions of a rythmless whiteboy

I have no rythm zero zilch zip none at all. Eveybody has rythm they just don't know it you say no I don't. I can't clap in beat I do not clap at concerts for this reason you know when the band has the crowd clap to the beat no sir I do not do it why because someone will say you are out of beat. In basic I could not stay in step while marching. I even had a drill sergent pull m,e aside an ask me if I had no rythm to which I replied no srill sergent I do not. I can't even do the whole we will rock you thing at sporting events.So I do not have rythm zilch. Sad hopeless not so fast my friend there is hope for me read on.

That being said I can still rock and live my dream of being a rock star or at least play at being one. Thank you GH III helping rythmless people play guitar. I hesitated to buy this game because of my short comings then I played GH II at a friends yes I stunk but I had fun. I tried DDR but it was not as fun as this and I stood no chance there. After investing the hefty $100 and about 3 days later I say why did I wait so long. I finished the game on easy. My frined and I did Co-op career and beat it. Shocking thing I actually carried hime through on Metalica's One. I did good on that. So I have decided that I will eventually buy GH II as well. Before I go back to visit family in Colorado at Christmas I will be getting another controller. Last year the big hit was FN 3 this year I see GH III being huge and not just with the guys. Maybe I can even get mom in on it doubtful but who knows. Rock on everyone.

Update will return to Doctor again after work for the chronic headaches. Almost a month of solid headaches is not good.

Nothing stays the same and everything changes

Maybe I am becoming the old guy who complains about how different everything is and how rough I had it. Actuallu I am not going to say anything about how rough I had it but I will make some comments on how everything changes. My first rant of change what is the deal with the army? When I was in the army those who wore the berets had respect because you knew they earned it no matter what color maroon airborne, black ranger, green special forces. Not anymore every soldier gets to wear a black beret they didn't do anything special to eanr it other than be in the army, that is special yes don't get me wrong I respect and honor all service men and women, I am just saying the rangers had something that signified hey I went through so much more and the rest of us said yes you did and I respect you for it. As far as I can tell they have not given the Rangers another color of beret it is like they just took it away from them to make everybody have pride. We had pride just because we were in the army and didn't need to be given something that we didn't earn to have it either. I also recently found out that the unit I went through basic with has disbanded the 1/28th no longer exists. Sigh. These college kids see my army hat etc. and ask about my service. When I say I went to Ft. Jackson they relaxing Jackson. O.K. yes it is not a combat baisc but when I was in that was where over 50% of the recruits went and that is another thing my basic was ahrder then these kids today. There higher standards about weight and body fat. I had to get in on body fat funny thing is with the new satndards I would get in on weight. And they have the nerve to mock where I did basic one guy went Ft. Leornard Wood I had to laugh because we always said lost in the woods.

O.K. enough about the army changing what about the whole sensationalism thing. I was looking at something about Tron recently on retrojunk.com and some actually said the movie needed to be remade with better effects and more action. That movie left such an inpression on me that my cosouin and I played tron with frisbees. Thene there is the whole rate the game on graphics back in the day I never worried about graphics. Basketball on Atari 2600 anyone. Don't get me wrong I love my games and yes I do say look at those graphics but I think for me it is more of a man look what they can do now as opposed to they stink and you should get a different game regardless of gameplay because the graphics aren't that good.

I see they are remaking old cartoons like GI Joe. I am o.k. with that except they have messed it up. I was watching on ethe other day and they had some type of force field come on give me a break. I actually think some of the movie remakes are decent but once again they do remind me of how much things change. These are just a few things I have noticed. Oh yeah the right now attitude society has this I need what I want right now 1 hour photo the norm and not the exception. No one waits and even us older people are guilty of this but the younger people oh my they are terribleif they have to wait for anything I am not kidding.

Sure I sound all nostalgic and everything but you know what I love the things we have. Cell phones, computers that are so much more then they were, I would not give up my 360 for anything so there but sometimes I just kinda miss the simpler things.

On a side note and to update everyone the headaches are still here nothing has helped not even vikadyn so I will probably have to go back to the doctore this is getting pricy.

Point to ponder: How in the world do courts expect anyone to remember anything when it takes them years to get a case to court? How am I supposed to remember what shift Iw orked two years ago?

Sanity is relative

Proof sanity is relative. Some people may think the following is clear proof that reenactors are just plain old crazy and should be immediately sent to therapy. For example I have been involved with both Roman reenactors and Civil War renactors. The first scenario I present is drill I have only done this with the Civil War Unit because when I was with the Romans I showed some sanity and was a Celt so I did not do drill with them instead I watched as they marched around.

With the 23rd IL. an infantry unit I have done drill. Keep in mind the uniforms are wool all except the shirt which is little jhelp as you have a wool coat buttoned over the top of it. It gets hot and then one has to wonder why am I doing this. Many of you will undoubtly say that this act alonme shows lunacy in its purest form. Yet it is worth all the drilling something I doubt I would have said until I experienced the payoff. What in the world could be worth that the event itself. The thrill your heart pounding threatning to burst from your chest as you march across a field with cannons booming seeing the opposition on the other side of said field hearing the pop of their guns as you form your battle line. Everything is done to make this hobbie safe and you know they are not really shooting at you but man alive you really do get a feel for what it would have been like to have really been there. Same thing goes for being a Celtic reenactor charging the ROman line screaming like a mad man.

Furthermore there are withing the reenacting community the hardcore who want the total experience these guys will sleep on the greound with no tent to see what it would have been like to be on campaign. I slept in an A frame canvas tent with two other guys which made it fairly crowded but once again the payoff made everything worth it. Simple proof that sanity is relative who in their right mind thinks marching around in woolen uniform is a hobby? I know if I ever move I am looking for an artillary unit no more marching but honestly I say it was all worth it.

Then again there are those who wonder about us gamers not understanding what we see in all these video games and some may question our sanity for playing games for hours on end. Yes it is true Sanity my friends is in the eye of the beholder.

The phone is haunted

The other day I go to down load photos off of my phone when this picture showed up. Look closely at the center I thought it looked like a person. Several other people see it to. I know for a fact I did not take this picture. This is so freaky. Some may think it is a picture of my pocket which has been suggested, but I never carry my phone in my pocket it is always on my belt.

More Randomness

So here is the thing I was just sitting here pondering, what keeps happening to my dress socks. I have over a dozen pairs no wait single dress socks seriously they vanish somewhere I just can't figure out where. Of course a dress sock is worthless without its mate because well I can't just grab another one that looks similar. They are expensive as well so I am so tired of loosing them. I am so going to start buying the plain ones.

Since I am a grad student and I work at the college in a residence hall you'll hear a lot about college students here. One of my favorite scratch your head and wonder how the poor kid made it out of high school and into college moments are you ready for this. A student came to the front desk when I happened to be standing there and wanted to check out of their dorm room. The receptionist asked to simple questions did you put in a forwarding address, and did you clean your room. The answer this is priceless. I didn't know I had to. Man after the poor kid left I almost feel on the floor laughing. O.K. I can understand the whole forwarding address thing first time away from home and what not. I still say that would be common sense but the whole I didn't know I had to clean my room made me wonder.

The point to ponder for the day
Why are some the smartest people so dumb when it comes to good old common sense? I knew a guy who knew some of the dumbest facts ever a whiz at play along jeopardy but once had to ask how to call an ambulance. No kidding.

It is day 3 of no shave November and still growing.
Oh yeah and we are officially passed the 8 months smoke free marker and heading to a strong 10 months.

Random rambling

Time 6:08 A.m.

I am exhausted and fighting to stay awake. After work I am going into have some blood tests ran that had to fast for. Starting at 9 p.m. last night. You would think since I work nights all the time I would be golden but oh no. My body is pissed off screaming caffeine. O.K. I freely admit I am caffeine addict no problem and my body is so pissed right now. I have two more hours of work and then I can go to the lab.

Further more and on a side note. I am indeed participating in No Shave November. The rules are simple don't shave don't even trim for an entire month. So after hearing about this from a resident I looke into it. Appearenlty women can particpate as well they are noit suppose to shave their legs. That is kinda of disturbing and yet the truth is they can at least hide that by wearing pants us guys doing this well it might get disgusting to look at. So I will be posting pics from time to time to show the progress if that is what we want to call it.

Note to self start doing more research before buying cds. I went to Best Buy tonight and bought a cd first of all it took the sales person a while to find it. So I started listening to it in the car my friend commented that he was worried about me after hearing some of the lyrics. I do like some of the songs but over all probably could have wpent the money better.

Something to ponder

Have you ever wondered why Walmart and oither stores build 30 or so cash registers but only run maybe half of them all at the same time I would say it is less then half but I just don't get why the have so many registers if the don't use them. Just something to consider.

Things that are really annoying

People who talk on their cell phone while at the checkout or the front desk where I work. If youn want to do business then ask the person on the phone to hold on and then resume the conversation afterwards do not try to carry on two conversations at the same time.

People in jobs dealing with the public that act like its the end of the world if they have to help you. Maybe they should find another job. Just a thought there.

Walmart why I can never find people on the floor of the store there.

The education system fails again

Recently at Missouri State University there was a lot of protesting by students who proved that the education system is failing the next generation. During an event titled Momfest in what has been designated as a free speech zone officers politly told the organizer to ask the bands from using the F word because a complaint had been registered. I am not going to state or debate rather the school was wrong not but I am going to say the response by students showed a complete ignorance of the constitution and what freedom of speech means. As I read comments in the school paper by both the papers staff and fellow students I wondered did any of them ever take a basic social studies course or political science or anything.

First of all to be perfectly clear freedom of speech does not nor has it ever meant you can say anything you want at all. I can not run in to a croweded theater and yell fire casing said theater to lose business. I can not maliciously and with ill content attack people even if what I say is true. Further more I wonder if these teens and young adults had ever heard of libel, slander, or the alien and sediation acts.

Everything mentioned above proves that while I may be free to say anything I want there are consequences which could include jail. During war people were arrested for criticising the goverment and no that is not recently that was well before even the civil war. The paper porported they could print the f- word in its entirity if they wanted to. The funny thing is that the Supreme Court has said obscenities are not protecetd by the freedom of speech clause. So is everything protected by freedom of speech no. I am not going to debate what constitutes obscenities but the f- word legally is not an obcenity. So while the school may have been wrong the students showed a complete ignorance of the constitution and the law. America has a long history of what many would term censorship freedom of speech does not protect everything nor has it ever nor was it intended to. Why do supposedly inteligient people college students not know this something I learned in high school and several times later in numerous constitutional law classes, and yes political science classes that should be required of all students.

Good News

Well I went to the Doc today. The Headaches are just one symptom the dr. said. I started working nights mid August which has messed with my body. The dr. basically asked if I could quit working nights. No that job gives me benefits is easy and is paying for most of my M.B.A.. The d. said o.k. long story short working nights has lead to depression, sleep problems, and migraines. Solution medication to 1 help me sleep 2 get rid of the headaches. Oh yeah I am supposed to exercise and get a regular sleep pattern going. In a month I supposed to go see the doc again. Thanks for the well wishes and everything . Oh stress was a factor hah suprise me stressed read 9 month blog and you will see what I mean.

headaches

I have been experiencing headaches almost everday for a couple of weeks now. I think I could deal with the headaches if that was it but they are usually followed by a disorentation and a foggy brain. Basically I can't think straight or concentrate. The worse part is the fact that I am behind in my online economics class and they seem to hit as soon as I try to get caught up. The semester is in high gear and I am trying to finish the Master's in history, getting my paper finalized, and working on the M.B.A. and just can't do so well when I can't even make it through a few hours of study without this happening. I go in for my physical on Thursday and hopefully can figure something out then.

Remember when

Sometimes when I am really bored at work I will go to the xbox live forums. I watch a desk from Midnight to 8 a.m. . It gets pretty quite from say 4 a.m. to about 6 or so. Anyways the forums make me laugh a lot the Timmies really are funny. Some guy posts how much a game stinks and the flamers start saying you only say that because you suck at it.

Anyways the other day I was reading people complaining about achievments not unlocking. First of all I can kinda of understand this because I have a certain sense of accomplishment when that little message pops up. The thing that made me laughh was one poster said I wasted three weeks and then didn't get the accomplishment. So I thought well I remember when you played games to play them hence the following list.

Remember when the only accomplishment you got from a game was the fact that you beat it and yet you had no proof because there was nothing showing you did.

Remember waiting in line to play Pac-Man for an hour or more then only playing like 10 minutes and getting back in line all over again.

Remember gasp actually having to search for the song you wanted to listen to by hitting FF or Rewind.

How about when they actually made Tape decks that skipped to the next song that blew my mind.

When you could buy LPs at the mall.

When they were still called albums and LPS.

Cassette, 8 trak, or LP

Having to carry a disk that held less information then the flash drives do and they only worked on certain computers.

When computer games were bought for youer specific one.

9 months smoke free

To start off if you never smoked you will not understand this blog if you have smoked you will know exactly what I am talking about. The first question comes to m ind how long since I quit well if I go by weeks it is over 9 months. In all fairness, however, since I quit on Jan. 30th going by the physical day well I am shy of 9 months. I say I go for the more exciting number 9 months it is because every second in hell counts as an eternity. Simply put that first week should be counted as a month at least because it seemed like and eternity. After sputtering around for two years I have made it farther than I had in the past. Yet I am sitting here craving that puff even after all the torture quiting was when the stress of working on two gradaute degrees while working full time starts to weigh me down I am like oooohhhhh that would be so nice and relaxing. When I snap at people oh yea since I quit I am a surly old jerk sometimes especial if stressed or upset. Before I was like oh I just go light up and then I can deal now I snap at people for no reason. I swear some days I am this close to ripping someones head off.

Last weekend I almost went and bought a pack since Jan. 30th I have had half a cig and it did nothing for me but I am still like oh I am so upset so stressed I need. Truth be told I need one about as bad as I need another ex wife really I don't need either. There it was this weekend because a person who is supposed to be a close friend basically acted like I was nothing less then nothing nobody like I didn't exist. Add to that stresses of and adoption that has dragged on for several years the fact that I have to testify against someone I kinda know in court and the whole school thing. Well I have finally figured out why people snap not really but my sanity some days is questionable. Then people who have never smoked go oh just don't do it don't get another cig you have quit haha. That is lunacy at its finest once a smoker always a smoker I say. Oh yea and Christmas is around the corner I will travel back to Colorado to see family who mostly smoke that should be fun. People just don't get the whole addiction thing if they have never had one and they try to be helpful but the truth is they often make it worse well just don't do it indeed can I strangle you now really well ok maybe not but that sure is annoying well anyways addictions are hard to break and I feel better for having quit but I am sure I spent at least a month in hell. That is my little rant about some crazy thing called stress and life and well you get the picture.

working nights stinks

I got up around 10:30 tonight and turned on the t.v. to the Rockies Diamond backs game. Cooked some dinner and made lunch for work. Bottom of the fourth Rockies go ahead and I have about 35 minutes before I have to leave for work. I am lucky I live a few blocks from work and can walk it in a matter of minutes. So I relunctently head to the bathroom to shave and shower. I step out of the shower back to the t.v. and in my absence the Rockies have scored 4 more runs. Then I finally pull myself away to head to work. I missed my usual game time before coming to work oh well I guess. I usually play the 360 to relax before work sometimes it helps other times it just fires me up.

I get to work and go to espn.com their stinking webcast isn't working. I go to a Denver radio station to be told that they can no longer carry sports online. Finally I got the webcast at espn to work. Now I missed the Diamondbacks score it is now 6-4 and then like that it was over and I missed so much of it. The Rockies have made history so far and I missed a lot because of my sleeping patterns.

I have a great job really but man it sure messes with my ability to do other things like play the 360. When I am on half the time noone else is on because well frankly most people are out work at 9 a.m. not me I am at home relaxing after working my day. Even on weekends when I try to sleep the same pattern I am getting when friends are ready for bed. It really is hard to find people who want to do stuff around 3 a.m. and that is why working nights suck.
