my weekend

I woke up this morning with a huge headache and feeling like I had been running all night instead of sleeping.  Why?  This stupid dream i had, i suppose.  All night long I was running from giants, goblins, all sorts of monsters, and falling into all kinds of traps.  I managed to escape, but when I came back, everyone else was being chased and whatever, so they screamed at me "how do you stop this?".  I screamed back "turn it off!"  Wow, to be inside a video game is just not as much fun as playing it!  Whew.

It's back to work today after 4 days off.  Blah!  I did get some serious cyber-shopping done, tho.  Oh, I didn't buy that much, but I did replace my router, which should come tomorrow.  And i bought Fallout.  I think that will wait and be put under the Christmas tree.  Yeh, I always end up buying my own Chrismas presents, which means, sometimes I get nothing at all.  That's fine.  It's my life.  Oh, yeh, and I bought a 46" LCD HDTV.  w00t!  The one I have the xbox hooked up to is a 32", sad but true.  What else?  Ah, some stuff for the gkids.   And, I started thinking more about my next road trip.  Still don't know where I'm going, but I need to goooooo.  My daughter told me the other day that she has the Wanderlust, like me.  Oh, yeh, she is sooooo my kid.  If I didn't intend to misbehave, I would take her with me.  Oh well.

Everything considered, this is turning out to be the best 4 day weekend I have had for a loooong time. For one thing, I appreciate it more cuz i work every day. Four days off in a row is heavenly. And, the first day was Thanksgiving Day, which brought my family to my house for good eating, conversation, and best of all, many, many hugs. Even tho my router is out, I still have my PC and xbox, altho not live. I have been gaming and gaming.....WoW, Fable, and Magic. And, I got a back rub cuz i was in front of the PC so long I was hurting. LOL I had to put up with the comments and snipes, but it was worth it. Then, I slept in this morning. Me! The early morning insomniac! Well, 8:00 is sleeping in for me. I tried to get up at 5:30, but rolled over and next thing I knew it was 8:00. Wow! This morning I crocheted for quite a while.......the afghan. It's about half done. BIG!!!! Then I was in front of the PC again, shopping for a HDTV. I think the prices are just as good online as they are in the stores, and you don't have to stand in line. I found just what I wanted at Amazon for $700 less than it cost a few weeks ago, AND free shipping and setup in the home. So, If tomorrow turns out to be as good as the first part of these four days, w00t!!!

The Day After

Today is Black Friday.  Watching the news this morning I can see why it is called that.  Yikes!  Human beings can be real animals, ya know?  As for me, I am going absolutely nowhere today, except maybe Azeroth or some such place.  If I shop at all, it will be online.

Thanksgiving dinner was excellent, as usual.  The kids and the gkids were here, and everybody ate until they were appropriately stuffed.  Daughter was sick with a gunky head and laryngitis that was so bad she could only whisper.  Thus, they didn't stay as long as usual, but it was still good.  I got 203 hugs from my little guy.  I know this cuz he counted every one!  oooooo, I didn't know how much I missed my gbabies.  The older boy will be 17 next month!  That can't possibly be true.....  I was supposed to powow with daughter to get ideas for Christmas, but she couldn't talk, and she also indicated she had no ideas, either.  Great! 

I ordered the recommended router yesterday, cuz I found it on Amazon on sale for much less than anywhere else, with free shipping.  Can't beat that!  Well, I have to wait until Tuesday to get it, but, I will survive.  I miss my lappy, tho.  Since I saved $50 on the router, I just thought I would go ahead and get Fallout to see what all the fuss is about.  Woot!  And, my xbox has been behaving itself.  Ever since I cannot get on xbl it seems to work just fine.  Hmmm, another thought to ponder.  Why does my box freeze up?  Is it the box, the game, and now, could it be xbl?  Who knows.  I'm just glad it's working.

I just read Ice's blog and, yes, I was up before the crack of dawn with turkey, sweet potato casserole, and pumpkin pie on my mind, too.  The pie is in the oven right now....  Dinner is at 5:00, all are welcome!

Gotta be the router

Today was a 10 hour day at work.  Add the hour each way for commuting, and that's 12.  Bah!  And, I was the last nurse standing....  Nah, it wasn't a bad day, just long.  When I got home I got a list of problems from hubby about his computer.  He is totally computer illiterate, so he expected me to have all the answers.  Well, the answer turned out to be, no internet connection.  WTF??  So I tested the cable modem.  Working.  All computers....working.  Just not connecting.  I called roadrunner and got shifted to India for troubleshooting.  Ohhhh, I was under the desk with a flashlight looking at connections, wires, etc.  I turned on, off, restarted, no luck.  Finally, he had me check my LAN connection.  (nice, oh, wait, not Chi LAN.....)  My connection was disabled.  Whodunnit?  Nobody.  I have a direct connection to my main PC, but everything else is wireless.  BIG CLUE!!!!!  I got my direct connection enabled, but wireless is dead.   Ahhhhh, and so is the router.  It's been a good router, but time to replace it.  I need to be able to use my lappy!  The guy from India was very nice, and I could even understand him, most of the time.  Now, my dilemma...tomorrow is Thanksgiving!  Eek!  and the next day is Black Friday!!!  How will I get a new router and keep my sanity?  I shall prevail, because this is a necessity in my life.  Must have my wireless......  without it no lappy, no hubby PC, no Xbox Live!!!!!  I can do it, I know I can.  Best Buy, you are mine!
