Did Cliff's wish come true??

I recall seeing a video interview with Cliff Bleszinski where he was asked what he would consider a launch success for Gears of War 2. His answer? Paraphrasing, "I hope that Xbox Live crashes because of all the Gears 2 users"...

Even though it's a week after launch, could it be that Cliff got his wish, considering the recent Xbox Live problems?!?! I can't even connect today so I'm relegated to playing Gears 2 multiplayer in a local match with bots, for crying out loud. Hey, guess it's a good way to work toward some of those achievements. It might not be due to all of the Gears 2 traffic, but it is an interesting coincidence.

Finally finished...

...Gears of War 2 campaign. I wanted to finish sooner but a couple of parts gave me fits since I played on hardcore. Oh, and I didn't have as much time this past weekend as I thought.

All I can say is...

BRAVO, Epic, BRAVO!!!

Gears 2...

Well, with the limited time I've spent on Gears 2 so far, which is only about an hour and a half, I give it an A+.

The only criticism I've managed to come up with in that time is that it takes a little long for the party to fill up in multiplayer but that could be because the system is working itself out. Otherwise, it looks beautiful and I love the tweaks to the controls. Look me up people and we'll play!!

Nosing around on Twitter, I saw several 2o2p members on there (you know who you are). I also have a Twitter account, so if you are one of those, feel free to send a "follow" request to me so I can build up my own little Twitter domain! It's just another way for me to keep in touch with this community. I'm a little bit of a twitter noob, because I haven't figured out how to ask someone else to follow me so that I can DM them. Bungie dropping hints??

Is Bungie dropping hints about their next project??

While reading the 5/30/2008 Bungie Weekly Update just now (http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=13931), I noticed some peculiar but ever-so-familiar text concerning "containment failure", "security breach", and "dereliction of duty"!!

The sadness of inevitability...

R.I.P - XBOX 360 serial number 60xxxxxxxxxx - 18 May 2008

Well, the inevitable has happened. After years of faithful service, my xbox 360 gave up the ghost and got the ever so (in)famous Red Ring of Death last night. What a bummer! You know I'm kind of angry, but I guess at some point it's to be expected with all the issues these consoles have had.

But the reason I'm not extraordinarily angry is that the manufacture date on this console is November 1, 2005!!! My wife bought it for Christmas for me through Dell (of all places) the first month that the 360 was released and I opened it and put it in service on Christmas Day 2005. Since the 360 wasn't released publicly until November 22, 2005, this means I had one of the first ever made. Too bad I can't keep it for historical purposes, but at least I have pictoral evidence!!

So, I wonder if I have one of the longest lasting original XBOX 360's out there??

Anyway, I now bid adieu to my 360 and await my new one (hopefully they send me one with the newer chipset and quieter fans!). See everyone online in 10-15 days, which is the time they quoted to me that it will take to get my new box.

It's been such a long time...

I just realized that it's been over 2 months since my last blog entry. So, I thought I'd post one just to let everyone know that I was still around (though no one seemed to be missing me...wow, I must be arrogant?!?). So here I am 2old2play community!! Leave me a note to say "hi" or look me up on Xbox Live. I'm playing various games, but lately it's been a plateful of Gears, R6V2, COD4, and Rock Band.

If you need a drummer for Rock Band, look me up. I haven't played all the songs, but I'm a drummer in real life, and I can play all the songs on hard and haven't failed one on expert (yet). Not to say that I may not fail on hard or expert, but I'll give it my best shot for you! I'm in need of some "hard" and "expert" guitarists too to work on my Band World Tour!!

Bonus points to those who realized my blog title was a tribute to Boston. I love playin' those tunes in Rock Band. Boston is one of the best bands EVER!!!

P.S. I wonder how many blog views I would get if I marked this NSFW, even though its not...hmmm, curious.

Knight Rider

I was very doubtful about the new Knight Rider when I first heard it was making a comeback (of course, it's new for the younger generations). I thought it would be lame. I saw the report that Val Kilmer took the voiceover duties for KITT...would he be that good? Would the car be as cool as the original was when we were kids?? Who knows?

Well, now that I've seen the first 45 minutes of the 2-hour premiere movie...it's actually not that bad. The technological advances they reference, the special effects, the very nice (no, awesome!!) Ford Mustang...I think I might be sold...

This might end up on the list of other TV shows making an awesome "comeback", which include:

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (though it's based on a movie series that some argue was worn out)
Battlestar Galactica (Sci-Fi)

Let's see how Knight Rider fits in later...

COD4 on Veteran!!

FINALLY!!! I just beat COD4 on Veteran...man, what a freakin' awesome game!! I'm a little late to the party, but I just got it for Christmas, so what can I say.

In any case, now I have to go back and get some achievements I missed due to the fact that I was concentrating on Veteran so much!!

If COD4 gets an 11 out of 10 in your book, drop me a comment!! Best game I've played since Gears (yes, better than Bioshock)!!

Hate being sick...

Sick now for 2nd straight day, some sort of stomach virus. Will spare everyone the details, but it's nasty and not fun.

This may sound strange but I hate missing work due to being sick because I get so far behind it sucks when I go back. And I don't want my boss to get the idea that I'm a wimp!!

Someone out there have some sympathy for me???...
