Need Your Help

Two guys from my home town have a chance to get their own show on the Travel Channel. They've had a cable access show, been on Cold Pizza (ESPN2) and a few other shows but this would be the big break. One of the guys works in my neighborhood bar so it would be very cool to see him get a national show. Super Chuck

I love Chuck as much as anyone but this is a sad reflection on the state of American voters when Walker Texas Ranger is swaying results.

Here's a Chuck Norris fact you may not know. If Chuck Norris endorses you and appears in one of your campaign's TV ads, you take the lead in an Iowa poll and your Web server crashes. That's what happened to Mike Huckabee, the shrewder-than-you-realize former Arkansas governor (sound familiar?) who has become a major player in the tight Republican presidential race. The ad opens with Huckabee deadpanning: "My plan to secure the border? Two words: Chuck Norris." The camera moves back to reveal the Man Himself, who praises Huckabee as a solid, gun-loving, IRS-loathing conservative. Huckabee adds a twist at the end. "I approved this message ... So did Chuck." The ad, which ran in Iowa on cable for a week, has generated an astonishing 1.5 million YouTube views and clogged the campaign's Web site. Huckabee was rising in Iowa even before the ad, but he took the lead with Chuck as Huckster.

Manny Ramirez

There has been a lot of discussion about what Manny said so curious how people feel about it. Do you see it as being a big issue since the guy is knocking the hell out of the ball or is it a huge problem? In my opinion-if he's playing like he is-I don't really care what he says.

Manny's psyche is just fine.

Radiohead Update

A few interesting things happened with this story. A lot of fans feel duped by the band for two reasons:

1. They will be releasing these songs (plus now apparently others) as a cd later. Some who felt like they were supporting a groundbreaking new model now see it as a promotional tool for the larger physical CD. You had to figure that this was the point but a little more info would have helped fans when deciding how much to pay.

2. The bit rate is 160kbps. This is lower than their earlier albums but higher than an Itunes download (i think). I didn't hear a difference but I wasn't playing it on $5000 speakers either.

Anyway-I paid $5 for it and am very happy. Not a big Radiohead fan but it's a really good album. Anyone else jump in?

Radiohead

What are your thoughts on this? I like the idea but don't see it working for up and coming bands. Radiohead has the fan base to pull it off. If your favorite band did it and the cd was good-what would you pay?

On Monday, Radiohead sent shock waves through the music biz with the announcement that its new album, "In Rainbows," will be released for download from radiohead.com next Wednesday. The price? Whatever you choose. You elect how much to pay, be it 1 cent, $15 or $100. After releasing all six of its previous albums with Capitol Records, Radiohead doesn't currently have a record contract. "In Rainbows" will be available as a DRM-free MP3 download.
